Junior Taining

 

We run regular weekly junior training sessions on Saturdays, Mondays and Fridays.

We take children from the year they are 8, until the year they are 16. Please contact the junior membership secretary via the “Contact us” page before coming along to our training sessions.

 

The training week

Saturday morning sessions run from 8 am until 10am at mainly at Impington Village College, with some sessions at Waterbeach barracks.

We have three ability-based training squads which follow different programmes on Saturdays (Caimans, Crocs and Dragons*).On cycling weeks you will need to bring your bike, cycling kit and running shoes. Please try to arrive by 7.50am so you have time to lock up your bike, get changed and be ready to start at 8am. Cost is £2.50.

Notes about Saturdays training

Waterbeack barracks sessions
The Barracks is located at the northern end of the village, where the High Street becomes Denny End Road. The postcode is CB25 9PA. The Guardroom is immediately on the left after the barrier. There is parking in front of and to the left of the Guardroom, or on the opposite side of the road. 

We will run Waterbeach sessions from 8:00am until 9:45am. 

 

Park Run
Meet at 8am at IVC as usual to cycle over to Milton.

If you’d like to get an official time (recommended), then you need to register at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/form/ you then get a bar code to print out which is scanned at the finish and your times will be online by lunchtime.

 

Monday (7:15pm) and Friday (7pm) Swimming at Bottisham Village College. They each last one hour.  As well as catering for our range of swimmers, the Friday session is designed to be an improvers session to feed children into the sessions on Saturday mornings. Cost is £2.50.

Tuesday Open water swim for Crocs, Dragons and strong Caimans swimmers will run through the summer at Milton Country Park – meet at the visitor centre at 6pm.  Planned start date for 2018 is May 29th

Tuesday Run Session at IVC 6:30pm – 7:30pm open to all junior members. Please contact Kevin Howe (kevinchowe@yahoo.co.uk) for further details and to join his regular email list to be notified of any changes in schedule. This session will move to Thursdays once open-water swimming starts in late May.

Wednesday evening Dragons chaingang (summer) turbo (winter) .
Every other Wednesday starting from Apr 25th meeting at Bottisham Village College Sports Centre car park at 7pm.

Fees
May be paid in advance at discount rates, please contact the Junior Section Co-ordinator for more information. There is no need for parents to complete any additional paperwork each week but please keep us informed if contact numbers or medical conditions change.

*CTC Dragons

The objective of the Dragons Training Group is to provide a progressive training environment for those athletes competing in the Regional League and serious about continuing to develop their Triathlon training and racing. The aim is to provide a pathway between the Junior and Adult sections of the club.

Selection

Selection for the Dragons squad will by invitation to ‘Crocs’ who meet the following criteria. Consideration will be given to those athletes who demonstrate the required behaviors during training and whose performances in Club Championship cycling time-trials and races are in line with the Dragons squad.

  1. Age Range from Upper TriStar 3 to Junior
  2. Cycling control, speed and endurance to safely participate in summer Chain Gang rides and Saturday morning 3 hour Group rides
  3. Enthusiastic and mature attitude towards training such that they can participate in Adult sessions
  4. Regularly attend training
